What We Do

Fundraising for Children’s Charities

The Kiwanis Club of Blue Ridge is dedicated to supporting local charities that positively impact the lives of children in our community. Since 1989, we have held an annual golf tournament on the Friday of Apple Blossom weekend, bringing together community members for a fun event with a purpose. Through this cherished tradition, the funds we raise stay local, directly benefiting area charities focused on helping kids. Some of the programs we support are outlined below.

Kicks for Kids

Our signature charity is the Kicks for Kids program. Proper athletic shoes can be expensive, putting sports participation out of reach for many students. In partnership with Wilkins Shoe Center, we make it possible for student-athletes to participate in team sports regardless of family income.

Here is a sampling of other organizations that we’ve helped:
American Cancer Society
American Red Cross
Bikers 4 Bikes
Blue Ridge Hospice – Camp Hope
Bright Futures
Boy Scouts of America
C-CAP Back to School Supplies
Camp Super Kids
Child Safe Center – CAC
Christ Episcopal Church Panda Pantry
Family’s Reaching Out Group (F.R.D.G.)
Fremont Street Nursery
Girls on the Run
Hurst Hospitality House
March of Dimes
NW Works – Aktion Club
Our Health
